  19. I am reluctant to contradict you and partly agree with a *@*.xs4all.nl
  20. c0d3r [1], but it definitely was C='s fault to document something as
  21. readable where a system call was the alternative of choice.

  23. I agree with you that using an accessor function is generally better
  24. than direct peeking, but in this case, direct peeking was explicitly
  25. *allowed*, so I do not see why reading ThisTask is to be considered a
  26. programmer's fault. (This statement is valid only for source code
  27. written before Laire's posting, of course.)

  29. After all, even Laire is going to support reading from ThisTask for
  30. old code, so I assume he considers ThisTask being readable an ill-
  31. designed but nevertheless existing feature of the current OS, not a
  32. false assumption.
